Secret Betrayal: Chapter 4

The sound of apple peeling woke me up, as I opened my eyes, I slowly move my eyes to where the sound come from. Andrew was sitting there by the visitor chair cutting some apples for me. He realized I was awake, instantly he put the apple back on the table and helped me up.

“I’m sorry. Did I wake you?” He said in a concern voice. He really sounded very gentle and I never thought I would see this side of him. I shook my head while smiling and he relaxed.

“Do you want to know the story of how I got the scar?” I asked since he was really nice to me. “Well… it happened when…” I was searching for words to tell him; I never told anyone so I’m not sure how to start. He slightly got up and held a finger to my mouth, “ It’s okay. You don’t have to.”

“Here some apple. I peeled it for you just in time.” He offered as he returned to his seat. I took one and nod a silent thank you.

“Oh… here are some of your belongings. I thought you might be bored without these...” He said as he passed a bag of a few of my stuff inside. Again, I nod. A few minutes later, a nurse came by and told him that visiting hour is over. He then excused himself and left me alone in the room. Although it felt lonely here but I was glad to have the room to myself.

I searched for my hand phone in the bag full of many things. There are magazines, storybooks, games, teddy bear, stationary and many other things. What is Andrew thinking, giving me so many of this. After I found it, I saw there were so many missed calls and message from both Michelle and Kye. When I saw his name, I was furious yet thinking about him. I ran through his messages in my inbox.

I’m sorry… Forgive me. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have slapped you, especially in a place where many people are.

Please pick up your phone. I’m truly am sorry! =(

Look, the reason why I defended Rick is because he’s my only friend before I met you. Please understand. I know I’m blind for not seeing that.

I met Eliza the other day and what you said is the truth. I’m really sorry I doubted you.

I asked Michelle about you. She didn’t know what’s happening to you. She’s really worried about you since you didn’t come to school since that day. Please answer your phone.

Everywhere I scrolled, the message is slightly the same. I really don’t blame him for being a good friend because that’s what I like about him. From the screen of the phone, I turned to look outside the window. The calmness of the fresh air and birds chirping nearby makes me sleeper and sleeper. Slowly my eyes becoming heavier and the melody of my mother’s lullaby starts playing in my mind.

Sleep my little darling…
Sleep tight in the beautiful moonlight…
Tomorrow will be a wonderful day…
Dream a dream you love…
Always follow your heart…

The memories of my hand held out for my mother’s arms as she spread them to carry me. Her rose lips smile a gentle smile with her smooth fair skin and her sweet voice, singing to me. Though I can’t recall her face much, I knew she’s a beautiful lady.

Suddenly I felt a vibration coming from my phone. It’s another message from Kye.

At least tell me where are you? I know you are not home. Actually no one is home. Let me repent my sin towards you. Please. Pretty please with a cherry on top? I’ll buy you cake! Maybe two? Please?

Saltiness went into my mouth when tears rolling down my cheek. There’s no way I’m telling him where I am. Slowly I put the device aside and get some rest instead. I tried to sleep again as the wind gently slap on my face. This time it took longer for me to close my eyes.
